Location and Hours of Research Room

The Crandon Public Library Local History Room was created in 2013 for the purpose of preserving paper materials in order to ensure that Forest County history is available for future generations. It is a joint effort between the Forest County Historical and Genealogical Society and the Crandon Public Library.  The public is encouraged to visit the Local History Room located on the lower level of the library so they may research past community members, places, and events. The documents that are available include: newspapers, civil court records, school records, Common Council proceedings, justice dockets, assessment rolls, photographs, library records, and many more noteworthy documents. The Local History Clerk is continuing to organize and accession Forest County records and always welcomes donations of historically significant materials.

Please note that due to staffing issues, access to the Local History Room is by appointment only. It is highly recommended that you call us at 715-478-3784 to confirm the room’s availability. Thank You.

Due to our agreement with the Crandon Public Library, some of our collections are now online!  Search the archives here:  Crandon Public Library Local History Archives
