Despite the clouds, the yard at the Forest County Museum was colorful with
bouquets of spectacular flowers on the tables for the First Vintage Tea Party on
Saturday, August 8. The ladies who attended were served a variety of finger
sandwiches, fruit kabobs, flavored cheesecakes and English scones. Many of the
ladies dressed for the occasion with garden party dresses, hats and there were
even a few pairs of gloves.
Small Victorian recipe books were for sale with vintage recipes. They will be
at the museum for the rest of the summer. Sharon Quade won a basket with all
the makings for a tea party at home.
Inside the museum was a display of vintage clothes courtesy of Linda Monte.
These included several undergarments, a specially made morning dress for a
nursing mother and a jacket and bonnet that belonged to Linda’s great, great
grandmother who emigrated from Austria.
Linnea Dorau and Sandy Plummer did an excellent job organizing this event.
Many ladies left asking if this might become an annual event.
